TUMBAO ... brings the beauty of the Cuban Son, Salsa Classics and Latin Jazz to the thriving Latin music audience here in Tucson, Arizona. TUMBAO's arrangements of songs by Septeto Nacional de Ignacio Pineiro, Cal Tjader, Johnny Pacheco, Buena Vista Social Club and others, reflect the diversity of their repertoire. The duo consists of AnaLilia on bass guitar and vocals, with Alvaro on tres guitar, vibraphone and vocals. A sophisticated digital setup allows TUMBAO to vary its sound from a quartet to an octet, or larger ... all during the same engagement. The sound is authentic, tipico, and instrumentally distinct, allowing listeners to savor the sound of each individual instrument. AnaLilia and Alvaro are original members of El Caribe, which played in Tucson in the late 70's, and early 80's.
